Custom 3-day Premiere Pro training for team of producers and editors who were switching their entire workflow to Premiere Pro
About the Client
WKMG News 6 is a TV station in Orlando, Florida that is an affiliate of CBS TV. It broadcasts local breaking news, headlines and national news and employs an experienced team of reporters, journalists, producers and digital media experts.
Tim Arnheim, News Technical Operations Manager, organized a custom Premiere Pro Training for his entire team of producers and videographers. The team at WKMG uses Panasonic P2 video cameras, and Premiere Pro can edit P2 footage natively without the need to transcode before editing. This greatly speeds up the editing workflow. A news team operates on very tight deadlines- sometimes they drive out to cover a story at 4pm that needs to broadcast at 6pm. Speed and efficiency is essential to their workflow.
The Training

The training was delivered over a total of 4 days and the essential topics were:
- Organizing the Video Edit
- Ingesting and Importing Media
- Editing Directly from Media Card
- Selecting Media
- Working in Timeline
- Editing Audio
- Refining the Edit
- Transitions
- Titles and Graphics
- Exporting
- Archiving Project
The Results
“Premiere has been a huge improvement for us.”
– Tim Arnheim, WKMG-TV
The team at WKMG started using Premiere Pro immediately after the training. The students in the training were using the software with more efficiency and confidence. They are now using Premiere Pro as their exclusive editing program and are happy with their improved workflow!
